Katherine G. Thompson became a partner of the firm in 1987. Her area of practice is matrimonial and family law. She has specialized in this practice area for almost 30 years, representing clients in complex litigated and negotiated matrimonial and family law matters including divorce, annulment, custody/visitation, child and spousal support, equitable distribution, paternity, domestic violence and guardianship.
Ms. Thompson has substantial litigation and trial experience practicing in all state courts throughout the metropolitan region on the trial and appellate levels. She also has extensive experience in the preparation and negotiation of separation and pre-nuptial agreements.
Additionally, she has served as law guardian in numerous proceedings encompassing multiple areas of family law practice and has represented parents in child neglect and abuse proceedings. She has also represented parties in contested and uncontested agency adoption proceedings and private placement adoptions.
Ms. Thompson has served on several bar association and court committees related to matrimonial and family law practice, and has been elected a Fellow of the New York State and American Bar Associations.
She has lectured on various topics in matrimonial and family law for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Fordham Law School and Brooklyn Law School and served as a contributing author to a treatise on adoption law entitled Adoption Law and Practice.
