Renewable Energy

We represent developers, landowners, and investors in all aspects of renewable energy development.

Site Control | Permitting

BLH helps developers and landowners through the process of obtaining site control for the planned facility.  We have negotiated hundreds of leases, and drafted associated easements, crossing consents, and shared access agreements.  We can also help you navigate the permitting process, reclamation requirements, and other ancillary obligations for your CUP, IUP or other zoning approval.  Where necessary, we have rewritten municipal ordinances or even appealed inappropriate zoning denials.

Interconnection | Offtake

Whether your project is a community solar garden, Direct-to-Utility, BTM or otherwise, you need to sell the electricity to someone.  BLH has drafted and negotiated Power Purchase Agreements in several states, for projects of all sizes, in a variety of regulatory environments.  The interconnection study process can be harrowing and BLH can help you strategize.  If your PPA or IA requires approval, BLH can represent you in front of the governing PUC or PSC.

Financing | EPC

From short term construction financing, to long term debt and tax equity, BLH has negotiated a variety of financing vehicles and ownership structures, which can have cascading impacts through design and construction.  When you go to build the project, BLH can draft and negotiate the EPC Agreement, or Design-Build or Build-Transfer, depending on the situation.  We understand the interests of construction firms, financing parties and developers in structuring the build process, and can help you plan for tariff and ITC risk.
